Over the years I have practiced sculpture. I started in a night class in Mildura in 1965.
My practice has been sporadic and yes; amateur. I have had several exhibitions and have
sold some pieces.
More recently I have been using wood veneer. Yes, it does mean these works are ephemeral but then isn’t that true of all artifacts?
“Keeping the Flame Alive” is about ANZAC Day. It was made at a time of resurgence of interest in the community remembering the sacrifices of war veterans. The bunch of lilies was made for a florist about to be married.
The rest of these pieces were inspired by the location I was in, namely Mornington. there are roundabouts, converging roads with flyovers as well as helicopters flying over marina developments. As well as that, there are cityscape views up the bay.
Having recently moved to a smaller premises in retirement I would welcome enquiries from anyone who would like to have one or more of these pieces. You can email me for pictures of those works I still have.
